About the Neuse River

From the tailrace of the Falls Lake Dam, the Neuse River flows over 220 miles east and south to the Atlantic Ocean. The city of Raleigh has installed 5 boat launches within the first 17 miles from the Falls Lake Dam.

The Neuse River flow is controlled by the Falls Lake Dam. The river generally has enough water to drift and/or paddle. An easy current from the dam takes most of the work out of paddling. Providing for a relaxed time to watch kingfishers and great blue herons that live along the river. River Otters can also be seen near the bank.
